The Malaysian People’s Well-Being Index Trends from 2016 to 2022

The topic revolves around human well-being has received a lot of attention from policymakers and social scientists in recent years. This is because there is an awareness that a high level of well-being can guarantee and influence the development of a country. Hence, improving human well-being has become the main goal of a country’s development policy. Well-being is an important value which can be used to measure the progress of a community. Based on the 11th Malaysia Plan (2016–2020), well-being remains one of the core priorities to ensure balanced development in line with economic growth. This paper analyse on the level of Malaysian Wellbeing Index trends from year 2016–2022. This is a qualitative study using the method of analyzing documents, journals, and related articles. The documents involved are Malaysian people’s well-being index studies comprised from the aspect of Malaysian’s well-being, Malaysian Muslim’s well-being, Malaysian family’s well-being, and Malaysian Muslim family’s well-being. The study found that the evaluation of well-being does not only depend on the physical but rather it should be evaluated based on several aspects namely economic, social, and psychological. Each index or domain used to assess the well-being of the community should also be constantly evaluated and updated according to changes in time so that the evaluation is made relevant and accurate.
