The Impact of Intranet Use on Internet Sales During COVID-19: A Study of Companies in Ecuador
摘要
This study investigates the influence of using the intranet, as a digital innovation mechanism, on internet sales in Ecuadorian companies during the COVID-19 pandemic. Through a linear regression analysis, our findings reveal a positive and significant relationship between intranet usage and internet sales, suggesting that digital innovations may be vital to sustaining business operations during crises. In addition, we identified that the size of the company, the access of workers to the internet, and belonging to the manufacturing sector are positively correlated with internet sales, while being located in the Sierra region is negatively correlated. These findings contribute to the understanding of how digital innovations can influence the performance of companies in different contexts and suggest the need for policies that promote the adoption of digital technology, especially in areas with infrastructure limitations. Additional research is required to explore these relationships in other contexts and examine the causal mechanisms.
