For the Internet of Things (IoT), a rapidly growing field, it is necessary to have engineers with solid hardware and software backgrounds. Designing an introductory course for a new bachelor’s degree program in IoT Engineering can be difficult due to the diversity of the subject and the need to strike a balance between theoretical concepts and practical applications. ChatGPT's natural language processing capabilities can be used to design the course content, learning outcomes, material, and interactive tests, quizzes, and assessments that provide students with a tailored educational experience. With proper prompt engineering approaches, ChatGPT can assist instructors in developing engaging, dynamic lessons that incorporate real-world examples and use cases. The proposed approach might improve student engagement and understanding while requiring less time and effort to design and deliver the course. The proposed approach offers a promising solution for designing effective engineering courses that equip students with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills to design and implement IoT systems.
