Study of the Influence of Volume Parameters on the Paint Coating Adhesion
摘要
In general, to protect metal installations, paint coatings are used. Surface preparation plays a major role in determining the protective value of a coating. It is generally part of the manufacturing process and is provided for by standards for metallic layers. One of the methods used to remove rust before applying a coating to storage bins is shot peening. The latter is a surface plastic deformation process, often used to improve the appearance and technical characteristics of the surface. The aim of experimental work is to show the shot peening regime effect on the volume parameters and the effect of latter on coating adhesion. This work was organized according to the complete factorial plan 23, three parameters of shot peening regime were taken into account namely, pressure (P), impact angle (θ) and time (t). A correlation has been demonstrated between the regime parameters and the response studied, in this case, the peak material volume “Vmp”. The established model offers the possibility of predicting the response in study field and determining the regime optimal parameters. The results show that among the parameters of shot peening regime, the pressure is the most significant factor that influences “Vmp”. Thus, the optimal regime to apply to have the maximum adhesion on the surface agrees with a pressure P = 5 Bars, an impact angle θ = 90° and a time t = 1 min corresponding to Vmp = 1.67 µm3/µm2. Moreover, the contours of response surfaces offer the possibility to predict the response value “Vmp” and the corresponding peening regime parameters (P, θ, t) in the studied domain.
