摘要

Was Trump the laziest President in American history? Listening to his critics, one could certainly get that impression. “I’m sure most older men in retirement homes live more active lives than does Donald Trump”, MSNBC talkshow host Joe Scarborough concluded witheringly on Morning Joe halfway through the President’s four-year term. Even measured commentators have been shocked by the amount of time America’s most important senior citizen spent in front of the TV. “It was scary”, Bob Woodward writes in Fear: Trump in the White House. “Trump didn’t show up for work until 11:00 in the morning. Many times he watched six to eight hours of television in a day”. On the eve of his inauguration, Trump promised the American people he would “work so hard” for them, but in the years that followed only his supporters saw any evidence of that (or chose to believe him, at any rate).
