摘要

Voltage instability remains a serious problem faced by power system operators. Using stability indices to monitor, this issue is one of the key solutions to prevent losing control and avoid a catastrophic blackout. In this present study, an analysis is carried out for one type of stability indices, which is considered the most accurate for monitoring power systems: Overall Indices. Six indices are assessed in terms of their behavior, and sensitivity to the nature of disturbances to which the power system is exposed. The outcomes are presented in the form of a comparative analysis through an application on two power systems: 3 and 14-bus test systems using Matlab. The study highlights the importance of comprehending the behavior and sensitivity of overall indices in monitoring power systems, particularly during stability limits. Despite their sensitivity to disturbances, some indices have shown low sensitivity in certain instances or sudden changes in others.
