Wearable Textile Antenna for Mobile Health and Telemedicine Systems

摘要

A compact and flexible wearable textile antenna for biomedical telemetry applications is presented. The antenna is made of a Jeans-flexible material with a relative permittivity εr = 1.7, a dielectric loss (tan δ = 0.025), and the overall dimensions of (24 × 24 × 1) mm3, with a partial ground plane. A conventional rectangular patch is modified by cutting two triangles from both sides of the patch. The antenna operates at 3.5 GHz with a bandwidth of 700 MHz, a gain of 3.03 dB, and a radiation efficiency of 98.7%. The calculation of the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) was conducted to monitor how radiation impacts the human body, and the findings demonstrated that the highest SAR value falls within the safe thresholds established by the majority of countries. In addition to flexibility, the antenna is characterized by small size, ease of manufacturing, strong performance in real-world conditions, and compatibility with the human body making it an essential building block in creating low-cost, efficient antennas and a highly promising option for health and telemedicine systems.
