Microfiber Waste Management and Recycling with Zero Waste Adaptation Technology
摘要
There has been substantial growth in the production and hence consumption of microfibers, the most prevalent type of microplastic found in the environment. In the absence of a waste collection and segregation system, the management of waste plastics in the form of microfiber waste becomes a very challenging task. To continue exploring the benefit of this otherwise magical plastic material which has become an integral part of modern civilization, it is necessary to mitigate their impacts on the planet by employing strategic methods of reuse, recovery, and recycling. Mismanagement in the household, public areas, health industries, tourism, textile industries, etc. are the area of concern that needs to be addressed through the prism of rethink, redesign, reduce, reuse and recycle. Waste management can be implemented by establishing a proper collection chain mechanism. Two methods of recycling which includes mechanical and chemical recycling process are the prospective approach of recovery route for microfibers waste and sustainable solution to this menace as this process can transform the waste into valuable secondary raw materials. This scheme will promote optimization of the value chain of microfibers materials for circular polymer economy. This chapter will detail the methods available for waste management of microfibers and recycling with zero waste adaptation technology.
