Surgery of Skin Malformations and Tumors

Inborn or developmentally caused skin malformations constitute a spectrum of defects, some of which can be seen in the facial area. There are many different types of skin alterations with various underlying pathologies. The removal of facial skin malformations or tumors in young and older patients poses some difficulties, dependent on the size and location of the skin alteration. Reconstructive strategies enable the coverage of defects through the use of skin transplantation, and the use of locoregional or free flaps. The chapter gives insight into general techniques used in facial skin reconstructive surgery.
