Surgery for Bilateral Cleft Lip and Palate

Bilateral cleft lip and palate repair represents the greatest challenge for the surgeon. Bilateral cleft lip repair is one of the most difficult surgeries, and many techniques have been modified and developed to improve surgical outcomes. It is fundamental to restore function in cleft lip surgery. Although techniques continue to evolve over the decades, the basic principles of cleft surgery remain the same. In the following chapter, we present a multistep surgical treatment concept for functional and aesthetic rehabilitation.
