Giampaolo Merlini and the Pavia School

The great advances in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac amyloidosis are the result of a collective effort inspired by the pioneering work of a few masters. Among them Giampaolo Merlini is a giant, whose work and research contributed to advance modern clinical hematology and internal medicine. In this chapter we describe the unique qualities of this Master of Medicine.
