3D Biomechanical Modeling Applied to Taekwondo

Technical improvement in Taekwondo depends on instructor and student expertise. However, the analysis of biomechanical parameters can be a tool that complements teaching in Taekwondo. In this paper, a study was carried out for the registration and processing of kicking techniques in 6 taekwondo black belts, using an optical capture system and reflective markers for the development of a three-dimensional biomechanical model. Results show angular excursions, forces, moments and powers at the joints of the lower limb throughout the kick cycle; assessing those biomechanical analyses is a useful tool for technical evaluation in Taekwondo.
