摘要

Diabetes mellitus is a widely spread disease affecting a large number of individuals worldwide. Interstitial sensors measure blood glucose levels which can be recorded and stored for later analysis. In this study, we calculated entropy (H) and statistical complexity (C) using time series data coming from the abovementioned sensors, with the aim of formulating indicators to characterize diabetes and its dynamic development. Results have shown that the dynamic behavior of subjects with and without diabetes is located in clearly distinct regions of the H × C plane. Moreover, time trends in glucose levels after food intake can be tracked giving some insight into disease characteristics.
