摘要

The Infusion Pump (IP) is the medical equipment with the highest number of adverse events reported in Brazil. With the pandemic of COVID-19, there was an intensification in the use of this device due to high doses of sedatives for patients on assisted mechanical ventilation. Thus, this article aims to analyze the failures in IPs in a hospital in Brazil. The information about IP was acquired by the Clinical Engineering hospital software in the period from 2008 to 2021. In the analysis, the devices were counted and separated by sectors of the hospital environment. In addition, the priority given to the corrective maintenance was categorized to understand the continuity of the services. After checking the number of pumps, it was noted that the 193 failed 781 times, in which 54.29\% of the failures were more recurrent in the ICUs. Additionally, 144 pumps were rated “High Priority”, followed by 13 rated as “Very High”. Therefore, it is essential that Clinical Engineering incorporates the periodic analysis of failures, considering the whole context of operation to make the use of the equipment safer.
