Robot-Assisted Laparoscopic Radical Prostatectomy
摘要
Prostate cancer remains one of the leading causes of cancer-related death in men. Surgical treatment has played an important role in achieving cure in men diagnosed with localized disease, but has been historically plagued with significant perioperative and functional complications. Newly emerging technologic advances have simplified minimally invasive surgery and enabled easier learning curve. This has led to an increase in adoption of laparoscopic approach and standardization among different surgical fields, which has improved patient outcomes. Specifically, robotic-assisted approach has been associated with less blood loss, less pain, shorter hospital stays, and faster recovery, without oncologic or functional compromise. As a result, robotic-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy has emerged as one of the most common and effective modalities for treatment of men with localized prostate cancer.
