This paper examines research on effective leadership approaches and strategies for empowering innovation through STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education. The literature review is grounded in theories of transformational, distributed, and instructional leadership, as well as frameworks for educational innovation. Current trends in STEAM curriculum development and teacher professional learning are explored, focusing on shifts toward project-based learning, interdisciplinary integration, and technology inclusion. Case studies of exemplary STEAM programs in different contexts highlight best practices around visionary leadership, collaboration, personalized support, and hands-on learning. Systemic barriers and leadership challenges to STEAM initiatives are also discussed. Recommendations encompass developing STEAM leaders through specialized training targeting problem-solving, advocacy, and global competencies. The paper also synthesizes key findings on visionary, collaborative, and adaptive leadership and its implications for practice, policy, and ongoing research. Overall, the review builds an understanding of effective leadership approaches to champion innovation and empower students through engaging STEAM education.
