Leadership Behaviors of Successful Social Entrepreneurs
摘要
This entry focuses on the leadership landscape, actions, and achieving styles of social entrepreneurs. How successful social entrepreneurs think about their leadership and what behavioral styles do they use as they lead and why, as well as the context or culture within which one works, are foundational to the research discussed. Consideration is also given to the implications of leadership behaviors used to scale and build a sustainable social change enterprise, vital elements of their leadership and work. In addition to defining critical elements in the social entrepreneur’s leadership landscape, the entry specifically focuses on (1) the behavioral sets that are part of a repertoire of leadership strategies employed by social entrepreneurs, (2) predictable scaling and leadership strategies used as a venture grows in its capacity to achieve full social impact of its local and/or global mission, and (3) how social identity, and one’s understanding of how one fits within the culture of those being served to achieve inclusivity and equity, matters. The social entrepreneurs included in this study, through their words and actions, illustrate and provide lessons about how social entrepreneurs lead and work—how they create cross-sector, multilayered systems of change for the people and communities served.
