Role of 18-Fluorine Fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) PET CT in Cardiovascular Diseases
摘要
18F-FDG PET CT is widely used in the field of oncology. Its use in cardiology until recently was limited to the assessment of myocardial viability in conjunction with myocardial perfusion imaging. In recent years, 18F-FDG PET CT is being increasingly used as a part of multimodality imaging in diagnosing cardiovascular infection and inflammation. Recent guidelines endorse its use in patients with suspected prosthetic valve endocarditis, cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED) infection and cardiac sarcoidosis. This chapter will serve as a brief introduction to the use of FDG in Nuclear Cardiology along with a brief description of the indications, imaging sequence, and case examples.
