Imaging Cardiac Amyloidosis

Cardiac involvement with light chain or transthyretin amyloidosis is an increasingly recognized disorder, with improved clinical detection and a diagnostic workup that includes cardiac imaging. Tc-99m pyrophosphate imaging is an integral part of the diagnostic evaluation for TTR cardiac amyloidosis. New treatment modalities are now available and have been shown to have a substantial benefit on the quality of life and survival. Thus diagnosis is important and nuclear cardiac imaging plays a critical role.
