Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing Method Based on the Assembly Diagram of a Mechanical Device. Case Study of a V-axis Positioning Device

This paper proposes a methodology, based on the use of the assembly diagram of a mechanical device, to determine the geometrical and dimensional conditions of the parts that directly influence the functional conditions of the mechanical device to which they belong. The assembly diagram makes it possible to anticipate the functional conditions necessary to enable the coupling between parts and/or subassemblies and the correct performance of the mechanical device. As an example of application, the complete functional analysis of a mechanical device for the positioning of axes in a machine tool has been developed.
