Media-Didactic Competence Development in Pre-service Teacher Education: Teaching English Grammar Through Learning Paths and Storytelling
摘要
This chapter showcases a new double-seminar (“tandem-course”) that combines media didactics with English grammar teaching. It integrates media-didactic competence development processes within pre-service English teacher education for secondary schools. Students are guided in creating a Digital Learning Path (DLP) on a grammar topic by using Digital Storytelling (DST) to establish a narrative framework and learn how to use DST to support learning outcomes. This opens numerous learning opportunities, as students are mentored towards obtaining a deeper understanding of their grammar topics; the pedagogical and didactic potential of digital tools; and the necessity to identify, scale, and scaffold precise learning goals for their future pupils at the secondary school level. Response data shows a high degree of satisfaction among students regarding their subject-specific and media-didactic learning and final DLP products.
