Teach Less, Learn More: Empowering Pre-service Language Teachers with Technology-Enhanced Microteaching

Teacher education is vital in language education, as it impacts the quality of teaching. However, issues of transitioning from theory to practice and effectively integrating technology in language education are common challenges in many teacher training programmes. In an attempt to improve Malaysian pre-service language teachers’ teaching knowledge, skills, and attitudes, this chapter shares some insight and instructional steps from an experienced Malaysian teacher educator. By making use of technology-enhanced microteaching, pre-service language teachers improved their understanding of pedagogy and skills of language teaching through the process of learning, planning, teaching, evaluating, analysing, and revising.
