Using Writing Editor Tools to Improve English Writing Skills

This chapter presents an overview of automated writing evaluation tools that can be used by L2 learners to help them improve their English writing skills. It discusses how these tools were used to improve the writing of students who are preparing to become teachers. The chapter shows how automated writing evaluation (AWE) and digital writing assistant (DWA) tools can give students immediate feedback on their writing, both of which address their specific needs and help them to continue to develop as L2 users. These tools can be used to help students identify and correct grammar and vocabulary choice errors in their writing, allowing them to improve their language skills and communicate more effectively.
