This entry shows how do-it-yourself (DIY) corpora, created by students, have been used in data-driven language learning (DDL) over the last few decades. The entry charts the use of DIYC in the teaching of translation, English for Academic Purposes (EAP), both specific and general, and other languages. It is shown that the approach enables the learning of discipline-specific vocabulary and collocations, grammatical usage, rhetorical functions and reading skills. A variety of task types associated with or following the corpus construction may stimulate and motivate learners. Furthermore, learners often benefit from the engagement with and ownership of a personal corpus resource; these affordances may not follow from the usual corpus consultation to which DDL is typically confined.
