This entry describes the status of Languages other than English (LOTEs) in Data-driven learning (DDL) research and practice. First, it situates the topic within the broader domain of applied linguistics, with reference to the impact that Global English has had and continues to have on language pedagogy and scientific generalisability of language studies. Then, it provides an overview of how the focus on LOTEs in DDL has risen in the past few years, based on a range of publications. Next, specific attention is given to the status of LOTEs in DDL research with an empirical grounding, i.e. containing some form of evaluation of DDL. Finally, some key issues are identified and briefly discussed.
