eTwinning and CALL Teacher Education
摘要
Internationalisation is nowadays essential in computer-assisted language learning (CALL) teacher education, and Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) projects are a key tool to facilitate this training process. In this context, the eTwinning initiative, a European programme for educators, seeks to establish a secure and closed online community for schools, offering teachers opportunities for internationalisation at home. Teacher trainers can also benefit from eTwinning for Future Teachers, which offers pre-service teachers an international and intercultural experience while preparing them for schoolwork and equipping them with numerous skills and competencies needed for the global society. After contextualising the importance of internationalisation and COIL, eTwinning and more specifically the eTwinning for Future Teachers are presented. Finally, the connections between eTwinning and CALL are shown, focusing then on the benefits of this COIL platform for language teachers’ education.
