CALL Glossaries and Vocabulary Assessment
摘要
Computer-assisted language learning (CALL) has revolutionised language education, not only in traditional settings, but also in online and on-the-go environments. This is achieved through the implementation of innovative tools, applications and resources that support vocabulary acquisition enhancement anytime, anywhere. This entry explores the significance of CALL glossaries and their role in vocabulary assessment within language learning contexts. The study delves into the theoretical foundations of CALL, highlighting the principles underlying effective vocabulary instruction. Additionally, it examines various types of CALL glossaries and their implementation strategies, considering the four modes of the Common European Framework of References (CEFR): production, reception, interaction and mediation. Furthermore, this entry investigates vocabulary assessment techniques in CALL environments, emphasising the importance of formative and summative assessment methods, to provide insights into optimising vocabulary learning and assessment in the foreign language classroom.
