The Open Education movement has been enabled and catalysed by expanded access to the Internet as a platform to create and distribute educational content. CALL practitioners were among the earliest creators of Open Educational Resources (OER), which they saw as a way to provide multimedia-rich and interactive learning experiences for their students. The growing community of language teachers creating OER has been aided by the availability of Open-source software and by the growth of Web 2.0 tools that provide a wealth of openly licensed content, engaging social media sites and interactive platforms for language learning. The influence of Open Education can also be seen in the increased use of Open Access models in CALL scholarship and an increased focus on Open Pedagogy, which draws upon technology to facilitate collaborative learning among both teachers and learners.

摘要
