Acne
摘要
Acne is a common and troubling disease that affects men and women most often between puberty and the third decade of life however, in women, it can initially present near menopause. Women who present with acne during menopause are often frustrated and confused about the condition and seek help from aesthetic practitioners. Evidence shows that acne is attributed to genetic, hormonal, and/or stress influences. An important goal of treatment is to prevent acne scarring and future acne flares. There are several acne treatment regimens including laser and light therapy, topical products, oral medications, or a combination of these options. Treatment choice depends on the preferences and habits of the patient. For example, if an oral acne medication is prescribed by the practitioner but the patient has trouble remembering to take a daily pill, oral medication may not be the best regimen for this patient. This chapter will outline the pathophysiology of acne and appropriate treatment options.
