摘要

Biotechnology plays a vital part in financial development and sustainability. However, environmental biotechnology is employed in numerous areas comprising foodstuffs and medication sectors, farming, and environmental systems. Environmental biotechnology is related to protecting the surroundings or biological habitat by minimizing or treating waste, particularly emerging from industries or other sources such as agricultural residues that have detrimental or toxic effects on our environmental surroundings. Environmental biotechnology encountered critical menaces or challenges during composting, wastewater treatment, incineration, chemical degradation, etc. In a directive to diminish the toxicity of impurities produced during overhead cited practices, some unexplored or cutting-edge technologies have been invented to facilitate or treat waste products derived from enterprises, households, and specific farming practices. Biotreatment or bioremediation are emerging methods that are generally practiced to minimize environmental hazards or risks where particular microbes or microorganisms are used to recede the toxicity of specific contaminants. Many other approaches that contribute to environmental sustainability are discussed in this chapter.
