A World Full of Energy
摘要
High energy consumption is the founding element of today civilization that started 200 years ago with the consumption of fossil fuel. This led to a sharp increase in demography, quality of life, life expectancy, but also to an unprecedented availability and consumption of goods. In 2023, more than 80% of total energy demand was based on fossil fuels, with orders of magnitude of difference in total consumption from countries to countries. While millions have no, or little, access to energy, the impact on the planet of the overall resource consumption is deeply affecting its natural cycles. Human activities are affecting climate, biodiversity, water cycle, soil fertility, forest, and many other natural mechanisms.
