摘要

Terroir is an interactive ecosystem between its different components: environment (climate and soil), vine/grape/wine (its response to different environments), the human being (application of growing/winemaking techniques) and its role as a consumer (identification of an original product). Its study provides information at different scales on the potential/limitations of a region for grape production, which contributes to better management of resources. It is also an assertive communication and marketing tool. This chapter presents Terroir studies carried out in Uruguay, which allowed information to be obtained on the different wine-growing regions and the behaviour of the vine in each of them. These results were adopted in management and communication by the companies.
