Aggressive E-Communication Among Teenagers: A Field Study

  • Nathalie Hauksson-Tresch

摘要

The aim of this chapter is to present a field study carried out with 249 pupils in a middle school in Sweden pertaining to their usage of the Internet, with a particular focus on aggressive behavior. The outcome shows that in spite of the prevention work carried out by the school, a high percentage of students experience some kind of violence. There is a predominance of online violence over traditional violence as well as clear discrepant gender patterns. Girls are more likely to be victimized online but are also more likely to become cyber aggressors toward their peers. Boys, on the other hand, are more prone to engaging in face-to-face aggression. The results also show that the small group of non-binary students is particularly vulnerable.
