Analytics and Model-Based Decision-Making Support

This chapter is devoted to an overview of major terminology, methods, and applications of supply chain analytics. The chapter starts with fundamental definitions of supply chain management, data, models, systems, and data-driven, model-based decision-making support. Subsequently, classifications of supply chain analytics methods are presented explaining principles of optimization, simulation, and artificial intelligence. A special focus is directed towards descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive applications of analytics in supply chains.
