  • Maria do Carmo dos Santos Gonçalves

摘要

In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, this chapter delves into the intricate tapestry of familial dynamics within migrant communities. With a focus on individuals residing near the Brazil-Venezuela border, this chapter draws from interviews conducted in 2021 to illuminate the multifaceted repercussions of the pandemic on family arrangements. The convergence of immobility and social distancing with cultural, socioeconomic, and political factors creates a rich backdrop against which the experiences of immigrant and refugee families unfold. By examining how these families navigate the challenges of both migration-induced separation and the additional risks brought about by the pandemic, this research provides insightful perspectives on shifting roles, gender dynamics, and the resilience of these individuals in the face of potential familial fragmentation. Through this exploration, new dimensions emerge, offering a comprehensive understanding of family structures amidst the ever-evolving landscape of global uncertainties.
