Gender Disparities in the COVID-19 Pandemic: The Case of Germany

  • Katharina Müller

摘要

International research has provided ample evidence of the unequal impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Different population groups were hit unequally by the pandemic and its containment. This includes different vulnerabilities in terms of gender. This chapter discusses the gendered impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. While financial vulnerabilities arise from economic and labour market effects, social vulnerabilities stem from the changed distribution of unpaid care work and mental health issues. This chapter’s focus is mainly – though not exclusively – on the case of Germany.
