Continuity of the Solid, Liquid, and Gas Phases of Matter

  • Jaeyun Moon

摘要

In previous chapters, we discussed the success of normal mode decomposition of atomic motion in solids in describing various thermal properties microscopically and considered how time correlation functions such as velocity autocorrelation function are useful to describe macroscopic materials properties. Here, we survey recent literature on characterizations of heat carries in liquids through these analysis tools and discuss how one could use both the normal mode formalism and velocity autocorrelation functions to describe heat carriers in all three phases in a unified manner.
