摘要

The challenge of assigning a particular channel to an access point in large, distributed IEEE 802.11 network is a complex task. In some cases, it is solved automatically by the network controller based on the settings specified. But when this is not possible, it may require human attention. In addition, to select a correct channel plan, it is necessary to understand the advantages of a particular channel configuration and be able to evaluate the resulting effects of adjacent channel interference at the design stage. A similar problem may arise during wireless local area networks (WLAN) troubleshooting. In this chapter, we consider distributed wireless networks as three-dimensional regular structures and propose a method to find the best channel configurations for the most efficient channel planning of IEEE 802.11 networks, taking into account the specifics of spectrum use in these networks.
