摘要

Plants have enormous potential as photosynthetic factories to generate vital and economically valuable industrial proteins, vaccines, and antibiotics, as well as other plant products. Despite the fact that traditional systems like bacterial and animal systems are significantly outclassed by plant-based platforms, there are still a number of challenges to commercial-scale production, particularly when it comes to increasing the quantity and quality of plant-produced biologics and industrial materials. Chemicals with a wide range of structural variations can be produced by plants, and each one serves a specific purpose. These substances can occasionally be used to treat human infections. The kingdom of plants has produced countless useful foods, medicines, additives, flavoring agents, lubricants, coloring compounds, and gums. This chapter discusses concepts and examples of how naturally occurring plants are used for the production of different products, such as antibiotics and proteins.
