Conclusion: Towards a Kind of Paradise

The conclusion underlines the importance of understanding how narratives about Africa are ongoing and necessarily incomplete; therefore, the problem identified here is not one concerning narrative authenticity, but narrative incompletion. The challenge is not to identify the single most accurate version of Africa, but to increase the availability and visibility of multiple narratives from within the continent. The monograph concludes by similarly looking towards the ways in which a regional or communal framework embedded within world-systemic analysis can intervene in other, interrelated ‘global’ ideological concerns.
