By Way of Conclusion: Paz
摘要
This chapter resumes the arguments of the previous chapters on arraigo, dolor de patria, and empatía, outlining how these affects connect to visions of peace. The affective dimension of peace is explored through the feeling of paz, a complex way of being affected by conflict that draws from the other, previously discussed affects. Centering around debates about justice, impunity, and responsibility, my interlocutor’s implication in the dynamics of the conflict and its resolution is outlined. An excursus on Colombian children’s perspectives on peace and street art for memory in Bogota contrasts the perspectives of my interlocutors with broader collectives. Finally, I describe how my interlocutors’ position implies considering peace a privilege not everyone deserves.
