Towards Inclusive Architecture: Finding the Design of Capacity-Building Training Facilities for People with Disabilities

UIA World Congress for Architects outlines architectural solutions to support the UN Sustainable Development Goals. One of the solutions is design for resilient communities which is realized as an inclusive design. This study aims to determine how to design comfortable facilities for people with disabilities in capacity-building training activities that support independence and increase the dignity of people with disabilities. Therefore, to support the independence of people with disabilities, it is necessary to have a specific study on facilities that support the creation of independence through inclusive design. This study was conducted through field observations, case studies, and qualitative analysis to find designs that are suitable for people with disabilities in carrying out this training activity. Through this study, it was found that training facilities need to be designed in a training room that is by safety and comfort standards for users with disabilities, this facility also needs to pay attention to access to the training room and its supporting facilities.
