Optimizing Energy Usage: Genetic Algorithms Leading the Charge Toward Sustainability

摘要

Bangladesh’s rapid technological growth has led to increased energy usage and wastage. Despite advancements in energy-efficient equipment, a large amount of energy is still being wasted due to inefficient usage. The electricity supply components are evolving slower than the consumer electronic equipment, resulting in a shortage of power to fulfill household demand. To balance the load, a scheduled-based load-shedding system is taking place, leading to an increase in the usage of generators and gasoline derived from natural resources like petroleum. However, a way to reduce energy wastage has been discovered by utilizing equipment as intended and implementing a genetic algorithm. This algorithm generates efficient usage patterns that can be applied to the current usage pattern, reducing power wastage by over 50% in a single household. Scaling this approach nationwide can save a tremendous amount of electricity and help achieve a greener environment.
