Introduction

According to the Cambridge dictionary [5], the lexical meaning of “smart” is “intelligent, or able to think quickly or intelligently in difficult situations”. In Greek, “smart” also can be translated as “ \(\varepsilon \upsilon \varphi \upsilon {\eta }\varsigma \) ”, which characterises someone who has “growth and bloom”. Regardless of its connotation, “smart” is unquestionably the new catchphrase for any development fueled by emerging technologies [8]. In fact, as information and communication technologies advance [13], artificial intelligence, cloud computing, internet of things, blockchain, and other “smart” technologies are being implemented in a variety of industries, significantly enhancing the quality of life [1, 4, 9, 10].
