Spiritual Care of Family Carers in Palliative Care
摘要
Palliative care enhances not just the quality of life of the individual living with a life-limiting condition but their family carer as well. In palliative care practice, it is essential to understand the spiritual dimension of family carers in order to provide meaningful emotional support at a significant time of need. Key to this understanding is the ability to communicate well and listen attentively. It is also important to recognise the role of impeccable assessment of the spiritual needs of family carers and to ensure that this assessment services to plan for effective emotional support, meaning making, and preparation for bereavement. Presence, attentiveness, and support will all aid in providing for the spiritual needs of family carers.
