How Can the Internet of Things (IoT) Be Used to Improve Port Performance—Moroccan Ports Case Study
摘要
Nowadays, the maritime industry has known by the revolution of port fifth generation or Smart Port that integrated a lot new concepts such as: blockchain technology, artificial intelligence, automatization, digitalization and application of internet of things. The Internet of Things (IoT) technology integration has developed as a transformative strength across industries, redefining the terms of efficiency, data-driven decision-making, and connectivity. This paper aims to investigate the impact of the internet of things on the port performance focusing on Moroccan ports as application field. This study tries to investigate how IoT technology can improve port performance through a qualitative analysis merging the Delphi method and the SWOT matrix. By analyzing the insights of experts in port management, technology, and logistics, the Delphi method will deliver a platform for informed opinions and estimates on the potential of IoT integration. Moreover, the SWOT matrix will analytically assess the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of incorporating IoT into Moroccan ports. The result highlights that IoT applications have the potential to improve port performance, contingent upon considering the opportunities and the strengths. However, multifaceted challenges could be present in the process of integrating this technology in the Moroccan port field.
