Application of Endomycorrhizae, Phospho Composts and Phospho Laundry Sludges as Safe Fertilizers for Improving Plant Growth “Bean Plants”

This work was carried out to study the synergetic effect of phospho-compost and phosphate-laundered sludge combined or not with consortia of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) on the growth parameters and yield of bean plants. The results showed that the highest plant length, number of leaves, flowers, and pods were noted in plants from substrates amended with 10 g of endomycorrhizal inoculum plus 5% phospho-compost with respectively 59 cm, 26 leaves/plant, 20 flowers/plant, and 10 pods/plant followed by those receiving only the endomycorrhizal inoculum with 53 cm, 24 leaves/plants; 18.5 flowers/plant and 8 pods/plant. In the plants of the control substrates either ‘agricultural soil or Mamora soil,’ the growth and yield parameters were lesser, they recorded respectively 23 and 28 cm, 14 and 19 leaves/plant, 11 and 13 flowers/plant, and 4 and 3 pods/plant. The highest frequencies and mean intensities of root colonization by mycorrhizal fungi were recorded in plants cultivated on substrates inoculated with 10 g of endomycorrhizal inoculum plus 5% of phospho-compost, respectively 100% and 76%. The number of spores formed in the rhizosphere of bean plants growing into this substrate is 15 spores / 100 g of soil. These spores represent 12 species belonging to the genera Glomus, Acauolospora, and Scutellospor. Thus, these indicated that AMF should be recommended to improve plant growth and promote efficient use of available phosphate resources or be simultaneously applied considering the soil P and organic nutrients contents for long-term fertilizer efficiency.
