摘要

This chapter introduces Conceptual Models. It offers “teasers” of topics presented later in the book (e.g., a calendar application). It introduces the main design recommendation of the book: when designing an application, first design a conceptual model reflecting key concepts of the application’s task domain and the tasks the application will support, and then—on the basis of that conceptual model— design the components that depend upon it (e.g., user interfaces for various devices, code for implementation). The chapter outlines the advantages of designing this way. Finally, it describes the organization of the whole book and its chapters.
