Introducing the Concept of Aesthetic Positive Pedagogy (APP)

Aesthetic Positive Pedagogy (APP) is an approach in education that values and prioritises all students’ strengths and virtues. In this chapter, we argue for the need for educators, schools and systems to consider implementing APP given the many challenges children and young people are facing in their lives. APP provides an opportunity for hope and compassion in a time most needing it. Drawing together the fields of positive psychology and Aesthetic Education, APP allows teachers to focus their practice on a life worth living. This chapter provides an overview of the research that has brought the concept of APP to the foreground for education.
