Big Data Application in Data Management at Universities in Vietnam

Big data are large and complex data sets. The effective exploitation and use of big data require an operational management system including hardware, software, human resource, the process of data collection and exploitation. The management of data systems on students, lecturers, and other professional economic-financial information at universities aims at implementing training activities more effectively. Big data source is a significant task in today's development strategy. Big data applications bring outstanding advantages in education, such as customized curriculum, improved assessment system, career orientation for students, proposed appropriate learning methods and complete development strategies for institutions. The article clarifies the characteristics of big data, identifies data group and management analysis at Vietnamese tertiary institutions in general. On the basis of four research results of data exploitation and analysis at Vietnamese institutions, solutions are proposed in the management, analysis and exploitation of big data in order to improve management efficiency at higher education institutions in Vietnam.
